Monsoon Care for Transformers in the Shivalik Foothills
Practical monsoon checks for transformers in Nalagarh, Baddi and the Shivalik foothills: drainage, breathers, oil level and earthing.
Heavy monsoon rain in the foothills around Nalagarh brings standing water, high humidity and lightning. A short checklist before and during the season protects your transformer.
Before the rains
- Clear plinth drains and cable trenches
- Check the silica gel breather; replace gel that has changed colour
- Inspect gaskets for leaks
- Test earthing resistance
During the season
Watch the oil level and look for water near the plinth after storms. Lightning arresters should be checked after nearby strikes.
Dry-type units
Keep the room dry and ventilated; condensation on a cold, de-energised unit should be dried out before switching on.
AMC support
Jaybee's AMC includes a standby transformer within 24 hours of a reported fault.
