Oil-Filled or Dry-Type for a Baddi Plant Expansion?
A decision guide for Baddi and Nalagarh units adding a new block: where an oil-filled transformer fits and where dry-type is the better choice.
When a Baddi unit adds a new production block, the electrical team has to decide where the new transformer will stand. That location usually settles the oil versus dry-type question.
Outdoor yard available
If there is space for an outdoor plinth with proper clearances, an oil-filled distribution transformer (10 kVA to 2.5 MVA, up to 33 kV) is normally the economical choice.
Inside the building
For a room inside a manufacturing block, consider cast resin or VPI dry-type, which Jaybee makes from about 16 kVA to 5 MVA. It removes the oil and the soak pit, and lowers the fire load near production areas.
Short on space
A compact substation packs HV, transformer and LV together on a small footprint.
